Then and now Then and Now {Newborn Photographer Seattle Tacoma Puyallup}
I love then and now portraits.  It is a special treat to be a woman’s maternity and newborn photographer.  I love that I get to know a family and have fun with them during a maternity session and then celebrate with them when they come back with their newborn baby.  A picture truly can say 1,000 words.  In the before portrait Krissy is smiling, full of excitement and anticipation.  In the after portrait she is contemplative, awash with happiness and contentment.  She looks down in thoughtful awe at her daughter, her greatest accomplishment!!  Her pats of love on her swollen belly have been replaced with cooing in a daughters ear.  What a blessing motherhood is.  Congratulations Krissy!  You are a mother now and your heart has been opened to love more than you ever thought possible;-)

Bear down Arizona.

Bear down red and blue!

Bear down Arizona!

Hit ‘em hard, let ‘em know who’s who!

Bear down Arizona.

Bear down red and blue.

Go, go Wildcats go!

Arizona, Bear down!

Little Bellamie and her parents are big fans of my Alma Mater, The University of Arizona.  Such a small world.  They are in Alaska,  I’m in Washington and yet we are desert rats the both of us!  It is so cool that little Bellamie has being cheering the Cats on since she was tiny.  I love that she throws up her hands when her parents yell touch down!  Arizona…this little lady should be your mascot!!!!  In fact I think I am going to post this portrait on your facebook page!!!!  I know she is your cutest fan;-)  And she just came all the way from Alaska to cheer you on during your homecoming game.  Seriously she needs a paycheck;-)

Somebody’s Watching Me {Newborn Photographer Seattle Tacoma Puyallup}

Newborn Photography Seattle Tacoma Gig Harbor Siaosi 1 1024x682 Somebodys Watching Me {Newborn Photographer Seattle Tacoma Puyallup}
Siaosi came to the studio for his newborn photography session shortly after Halloween.  A year and a half ago I got to be his little sisters newborn photographer.  It has been such a privilege to be part of two wonderful events in this little families timeline;-)  I knew that this little fellow was going to make me work really hard.  Poor little guy was a month old by the time he came to see me.  He has had some re-flux issues and just hasn’t had the happiest start.  As I went about my business trying to create some magic in the studio I had a song running through my mind.  Actually what I had running through my mind was one line of lyrics from the chorus being sung by my daughter over and over.  She is four so it sounds a little funny.  No matter what was going on this little man had his eyes on me the whole time (except for about 20 minutes).  Even now looking at this portrait I can’t help but sing, “Why do I feel like…somebody’s watching me….”.   I know it is silly.  But I don’t think I will ever be able to look at an image from his session without thinking of that song.

On a more sweet and tender note I have had a few people ask about this little fellows name.  He is named after his Grandfather (LOVE IT).  Siaosi (See-O-See) means George in Tongan.  It always makes me a little mushy to hear about how parents selected their baby’s names.  You have a chance to give a child a name that will be a strength to them all their lives.  A name that will teach and comfort.  Siaosi senior must be a wonderful, great man to have the privilege of being little Siaosi’s name sake.

Wind Is A Woman’s Best Friend {Maternity Photography Seattle Tacoma Gig Harbor}

Materity Photographer Seattle Tacoma Gig Harbor Carrie 5 682x1024 Wind Is A Womans Best Friend {Maternity Photography Seattle Tacoma Gig Harbor}

Carrie came all the way from Gig Harbor to see me for her maternity photography session.  She is beautiful and was a natural in front of the camera.  We laughed at how this swim suit cover up made the perfect maternity dress for her portraits!  Who knew that cover ups had a secret life as portrait wear!  She rocked every single outfit and pose and I am so excited to share her images with her.  But wow did she turn into a glowing, pregnant diva when we turned on the fan.  I think every woman deserves a portrait session with a fan involved.   Just a touch of movement in your hair with the aid of wind can take a beautiful portrait to fabulous!  I am so excited to see her again in a few weeks when her son comes!!!  I am planning some super gorgeous mommy and baby portraits!  Stay tuned.

Little Miss Curiosity {Newborn Photographer Seattle Tacoma Puyallup}

Newborn photography Seattle Tacoma Gig Harbor Hossana 11 Little Miss Curiosity {Newborn Photographer Seattle Tacoma Puyallup}
Hosanna came to me for her newborn photography session when she was just a few days old.  How is it possible that she wouldn’t sleep a wink.  No amounts of cuddles and comforting would woo this little one into slumber.  So I had to get creative and photograph this wide awake angel just the way she wanted to be, totally engaged in everything I did.  I laughed as I commented to her parents that it was as if you could see the gears turning in her head.  She surveyed the room, followed me as I walked around preparing sets, even fought her way out of every swaddle.  She is strong physically and mentally this little pint of spunk;-)  I love this portrait.  I look at it and could write a thousand captions:

“What cha doing…”

“Umm…I don’t think so…”

“I see you…”

Hosanna why do I get the feeling that you are going to be the kind of girl that wants to be 100% involved in everything that is going on around you?  Maybe the kind of girl that can’t stand to not be part of the action.  Possibly a baby genius!
