I know sometimes you might not feel beautiful when you are expecting.  Your back aches, you’re tired and sore.  Clothes seem to shrink and skin stretches taunt.  But you shine full of beauty with that special maternal glow.  And any photographer that is worth their salt will show you just how absolutely lovely you are.

This maternity session has been one of my favorite to date.  Between the creative ideas of this lovely mother-to-be and my own, we spent an hour celebrating this special stage in life by creating beautiful portraits.  It was so fun to try new things and to connect with this wonderful client.  I am so excited to have her back when her “Big Boy” joins her family.

I hope that you all feel beautiful and that you see not only that really important inner beauty, but your outer beauty as well.

Love – Jennifer

What to pack for your hospital stay {Newborn Photography Seattle, Tacoma, Puyallup}

what to pack for your hospital stay 1024x662 What to pack for your hospital stay {Newborn Photography Seattle, Tacoma, Puyallup}
So I took some time today to create a Pinterest board just for you.  Pregnancy is a time of having to make a lot of important decisions, doctors / midwives, birthing plans, baby names, newborn photographers, nursery color schemes and WHAT TO PACK in your hospital bag.  I know when it came time for me I was frantically searching on the Internet.  When I packed my first hospital bag it was woefully full of unnecessary things.  For example I had the unfortunate idea that I would be able to wear pre pregnancy clothes home from the hospital.  I remember feeling like I was near tears as I had to put on the same outfit I had come to the hospital in in order to go home.  Tummies to do not magically disappear with the birth of your newborn – myth dispelled.

So, because I love you and I want you to spend your free time dreaming about the wonderful images I am going to capture of your little one when you come to see me instead of fusing on the Internet to find ideas to create a packing list for your hospital bag,…I have taken the guess work out of it for you.  Today I spent a good deal of time creating this pinterest board.  It is full of juicy tidbits specifically chosen to be both functional, fun and luxurious.  Just the right mix of things to pack to make sure you have the perfectly packed hospital bag.

So here it is.  I hope you come home from the hospital thinking, “wow, I was perfectly prepared…nail clippers…who would have thought”.

Cherub {Newborn Photographer Seattle, Tacoma, Puyallup}

I love it when I have mothers schedule their newborn portraits months before their babies are due to arrive.  Hiring your newborn photographer should definitely be way up there on your check lists of things to due to prepare for your new arrival.  After all, aside from actually preparing for labor and delivery and packing your hospital bag, what other decision will have an impact on not one – but many lives for generations.  When your baby is grown, maybe even with a child of her own…what will she hold dear …that’s right, her baby pictures.  Caitlin’s mom hired me months before her little daughter arrived.  She had to have been in her first trimester.  When my books for 2011 were filling up I would smile every time I thought of the one session already scheduled on my calender for 2012.

This little lady is nothing short of a wingless angel!  She had the softest creamy skin.  I always struggle against the urge to snuggle in and kiss on the necks of the little babies that I photograph.  But none so much as Caitlin.  She was just a little ball of yumminess.  I was so happy I had chosen a soft creamy color palette for her session.  I think it compliments her perfectly and really helps you feel just how soft and cherubic she is.  I am so excited to share her portraits with her wonderful parents.  They are practically perfect in every way just like their little angel!

Joey isn’t a newborn anymore.  But that doesn’t mean he can’t come to his newborn photographer to get the perfect portraits to celebrate and document his milestones on his way to being one!  It was so fun to see Joey back in the studio.  I love this bath set up.  Doesn’t it make for a really awesome bedroom wall display!  Joey is getting to be a BIG BOY!
