A Vision {Newborn Photographer Seattle, Tacoma, Puyallup}

Newborn Photography_Sumner.Kolton.jenniferwilcoxphotographyBeing a newborn photographer is such a wonderful creative outlet!  I love it when I have an opportunity to really personalize a baby’s portraits.  The success of every session is always dependent on support from my little subjetc’s parents.  Wether it is following my advice for preparing for a session, helping me during the session to hold baby in poses or watch over them to make sure they are safe or in this case giving me lots of information to help me personalize a session…parents make a huge contribution.

When I spoke with Kolton’s Mom during our phone consultation she shared with me that she and Kolton’s father were “Old Souls”.  I learned that Dad drove vintage cars and that the very first toy they purchased for their soon to arrive little son was a vintage peddal car.  Mom agreed to bring this special gift to the session.  As the conversation ended my creative mind started turning a millions gears.  How could I capture a vintage feel for Kolton’s session without simply using antuqie editing techniques?  That evening I contacted some fellow photographer friends to help me brain storm.  The ideas were flowing.  That next day I started shopping.  I needed special hats, new antique props and the perfect backdrop to sylize this little fellow’s session.  I spent a good hour researching online looking for inspiration.  And then it came time to prepare the studio.  This is what goes into your session.  I put my heart and soul into making it special.

This time though the success of the session had a lot to do with parental input!  I love how Kolton’s parents felt comfortable to make suggestions during their son’s portrait session.  His Dad even taught me a few tips about photographing cars stylistically.  It was so fun.  Both Mom and Dad helped me mold and shape hats to achieve the perfect vintage look.  I laughed when a prop needed some repair and Kolton’s Dad pulled a screwdriver out from his back pocket.  I am so excited to deliver these portraits to Kolton’s parents.  This session was the perfect marriage between photographer and client.
