Maternity photography isn’t just about a beautiful portrait.  To me it is about freezing in time those feelings of anticipation, excitement and renewal.  The easiest way to do that is by association.  Little Penelope is due to arrive during a season here in Washington were beautiful foxgloves, purple and white, grow all over the countryside.  These beautiful flowers cultivated in gardens all over the world grow wild in our wonderful state and during the summer their colorful stalks truly make our state lovely.  As I was driving to meet Shonda at the location for her session I passed by some growing along the road.  I thought it would be so perfect to have those for her session.  My hope is that every year when Shonda sees these splendid flowers carpeting the state she will remember her pregnancy, the excitement and anticipation of holding Penelope in her arms!

Association is a powerful thing.  And I hope that for my clients, the little details like these flowers make all the difference.
