It Takes A Village {Baby Photographer Seattle Tacoma Puyallup}

This is the third time I have gotten to spend time with Zaley, being her photographer.  She came to me for a newborn photography session and then again at three months and now almost eight months.  She is growing into the sweetest little lady.  And how can she not with all the wonderful people that love and care for her.  She is the jewel in her mother’s crown!

While photographing Azalea I decided that I needed to call in the big guns.  Sometimes it is hard for a little person to feel comfortable in the studio.  They have no idea who I am.  I am making them sit all alone and they are in a totally unfamiliar environment.  My ace in the hole is the assistance of my children.  When my kids were young if I wanted to have  a minute hands free to get something done around the house I would sit them in front of the TV (please don’t judge) and turn on “Baby Mugs”.  It was a 30 minute video chalk full of babies and children smiling and laughing.  That’s it… just mugshots of toddlers.  Babies are fascinated by other babies and children.  If my kids are home I almost always will ask them to assist me during a “baby” session (not a newborn session) to help make my little friend comfortable and smiley.  And it almost always works.  With a little help from my 4, 8 and 12 year old assistants I can get brilliant portraits.  Zaley’s mom sent me a message after the session mentioning that it really does take a village to raise a baby – or in our case get amazing portraits!  So true.  Enjoy the outtakes!

PS…Zaley’s awesome Daddy made this new prop for me!  I am in love!!!
